League Question

Postby maga » Tue Nov 16, 2004 10:25 am

I'm the comish for a 16 team head-to-head league. Last week one of the owners (Which I played by the way) told me that they couldn't make a change on their team. As comish I tried changing it for them, but the entire website was down. If the change was made (Fisher for Anderson) they would have beaten me by 3 points. Instead R Anderson ran for 28yds and she lost by 1 point (2yds). Now I'm in the middle but want to be fair.

1. Make the change (Even though they tried making a last minute change).

2. Do not make the change (It was noone's fault that the website was down).

Make the change.

Many times people will have trouble with our league, so they shoot me an email before the 1:00 games. I treat that as like they put it into the system themselves. I usually go to the casino on Sunday and make the change later in the day. I consider that email binding.

It is too bad she played you. If the situation didn't involve you, I would say you could go either way. Since your team is involved, however, you must weigh how the league percieves your actions as commish. You should probably give her the points and the win or you may lose credability as a commish to your league.

If you had sufficient notice before the game started you need to make the change in my opinion. Its not your fault the site was down, but not hers either. Give her the points.

She wins. Sorry, but that is the best move to make here.

It's a BS win for you if you don't do it.

I agree, if you don't make the change, others could look down on you. As commish, you don't want that.

Notice was given before games started, so the change has to be made UNLESS your league rules explicitly states that lineups need to be in by a certain time and she was past that time.

While I think it should always be gametime, if you league has different rules - rules are rules.

valid points -- but the league has to give owners an avenue for making their lineup changes. site was down, she contacted the commisioner with her intentions before the game (s) started.

You lost, and should relfect that and make her score count.

Because it was "no one's fault" the site was down is irrelevant. She took the measures to get the lineup in and wasn't able to do so. I think you should take the loss, because if the site were available, you would have lost.
