i am 1 point out of the playoffs right now and i have drew brees and j.wiggins as bench players (i start culpepper and a. gates). would it be wrong for me to offer wiggins and brees to the opponent of the guy ahead of me this week? he is currently starting bledsoe and some scrub from the bears. it seems this would greatly increase my chances to move up.

If you feel confident that you won't miss them, then do it. I think I've pulled a trade like that once.

I'm assuming that you don't play that team you'd like to help again in the regular season.
... in my opinion, of course - but that should always go without saying.

I wouldn't do it. Our legue might even block it. Anyway, who's to say he'll trade back?

he is so far down in the standings right now i'm not really worried about him right now, besides if i can get one more good reciever out of the deal it really works for all involved. he accepted wiggins for putzier pending commish approval. now i offered brees and r.gardner for bledsoe and d. driver

I wouldn't do it.

You say you're one point from making the playoffs. I am assuming then that your record is tied with the guy ahead of you? Wiggens and Brees are good, but they are not likely to be the ones that pull their fantasy team to a win. In my opinion, you'd lose two good backups and still wouldn't get the result you wanted (a loss for the team ahead of you). Unless that team you're trading to has a good roster besides the QB and TE, then it would all be for nothing. Plus, what happens if Culppepper or Gates get injured this week (it might happen), who would you play in their place next week? I'd hang on to them for sure. Concentrate on scoring points and winning your games. If you're only down 1 point I'd say you're sitting in a pretty good position. Culppepper and Gates both have very favorable matchups this week and should get you a boatload of points.

If both teams are honestly trying to improve their roster, then no worries.

But you're offering your bench players to a team in hopes he will beat the team ahead of you. If he sends players back in a trade that aren't of relatively equal value because he knows this is just a trade to assist him in winning this week, then that is collusion.

Of course, if you don't say anything at all, then no one is the wiser.

not unethical. you are helping both teams. You are helping your place in the standings and you are helping the other team.

in collusion -- the help is almost always one way.

you are free to trade your assets if you think it will be an advantage from you.

barring injury, those guys cannot help you. by trading them, they can.

since you have depth, and a plan, I wouldn't feel guilty for getting 50- cents on the dollar. Otherwise, you get 0 cents.

thats how i feel. i know its a risk but right now with all my bye weeks taken care of i know i wont use wiggins or brees anymore( barring injury). thats a risk i'm willing to make. besides putzier is not much of a drop off in the TE dept. i can also get delhomme or plummer off waivers in my league.
