A nice bit of info on AJ's prospects for the future....

Feeley has started exactly 15 games at quarterback since high school. :-o

I'm thinking Krynzel won't be the most worthless NFL starting QB in the league for the rest of the year.

Not sure how one can determine how successful a fourth year NFL Quarterback will be simply by counting how many starts he has had since high school.

Here's a few other bits of information that one should be aware of:

A.J. Feeley was behind Akili Smith, a future #3 NFL draft pick as a Freshman. I'm not sure anyone could have expected him to get a start there.

Then he won the starting job and was extremely gifted at Oregon until he injured his elbow. Joey Harrington (another future #3 NFL draft pick) took over and only lost 3 times during the next 23 or 24 games. That made it tough to win back the starting job, once he was healthy.

Then he was drafted by Philadelphia and was behind Donovan McNabb, a very talented veteran, and a top 5 NFL QB by most people's standards.

Lastly he finally gets a shot in the NFL and it's for the Dolphins who have very little talent on the offensive side of the ball. No offensive line. No running backs, thin at receiver, and one good tight end. Johnny Unitas would have had a tough time doing anything on this team.

Give the guy a chance on a healthy Miami team with a decent coaching staff before you criticize him too harshly.

AJ for a 2nd rounder. :-o He's a nice backup QB. Nothing more. He had every opportunity to unseat the lethal Jay Fielder in training camp....he didn't.

I think every QB in the NFL would like a great O-line, great RB and great WR, but the reality is that it just doesn't happen a lot.

Chambers is fine as a #1 NFL WR, Marty Booker is fine as a #2 NFL WR. Randy McMichael is a legitimate top 10 TE.

We'll find out after these next 7 weeks that AJ Feeley will not be the Dolphins starting QB in 2005. I think they'll make a huge push this offseason for Matt Hasselback and to the draft or Edgerrin James for the running game.

I don't put much into the fact that former coach Wannstedt decided to start Fiedler instead of Feeley. He was an awful coach and had a worse eye for talent in Chicago, and then again at Miami.

I agree that every QB in the NFL would like a great O-line, great RB and great WR, but I think Feeley would be happy with just average ones.

He's in the perfect situation then! ;-D

I hate Wanny as much as the next person as a Bear fan, but Ricky was the Dolphins. Dave's fate was sealed the 2nd Williams 'retired'. Phins would of had to make the playoffs IMO (with Williams) for Wanny to keep his job in any case.

you're kidding, right? Come next year, and Feeley will have arguably the NFLs best WR corps to throw to, assuming they keep them all. Boston, Booker and Chambers... yeah, I guess they are average.

We'll see how he does next year...

I can name at least 4 teams with better WR's than the Dolphins.

Indy - Harrison/Wayne/Stokley
Minn - Moss/Robinson/Burleson
Phi - Owens/Mitchell/Pinkston
Sea - Jackson/Robinson/Engram

Boston has always been an underachiever (unless he's in a contract year of course). Booker? He's inconsistent, and has had what? Two good years in the NFL? I'll give Chambers his props though, but his stats have been average this year, and that's even with Fiedler throwing to him. What's up with that?

I was only trying to make the point that, Feeley hasn't really gotten many starting opportunities in college and then again in the NFL. He played behind two QB's in college who were drafted third, and then he played behind McNabb. Finally when he goes to a team, where he should have gotten a starting nod, he has an inept coach, bench him for Fiedler? I'm only asking for people to be patient, every QB has a learning curve in the NFL (unless your Roethlisberger of course), and now he will be the definate starter I believe. That gives a QB more confidence. I think AJ will do just fine, just give him a chance.
