TWO games a week?!?

Does anyone else play in a league that plays Double Headers each week?

I made a post about this deep into the second page of an earlier thread talking about Head 2 Head leagues, so I wanted to see what everyone else thinks about it.

I've been playing in a 12 team league for 2 years now, and when I started I was surprised to see that we would be playing Double Headers each week and would be playing against 2 teams instead of just heads up. I didn't thinkmI'd like it, but now I've fallen in-love with this concept.

In H2H formats you sometime gets screwed when you end up getting matched up against the one team in the league that scored more point than you. So it seems sometimes that people get lucky and make the playoff even when there team isn't very strong.

When you play 2 teams each week, you usually end up with at least one win out of the 2 games if your team is decent...and if your team sucks, you end up losing both games. So the crappy teams usually finish near the bottom and the deserving teams make it to the playoffs each year.

What do you guys think? Possitives? Negatives? Does anyone else play in a league like this?

I'm currently in 2nd place with a record of 15-3-1...

i was in a 16 teamer last year that played doubleheaders every week until playoff time. it was awesome! the better teams would definitely rise to the top! we had 1 team go 26-2!

yeah i love the idea too. at first i was like you,thinking, man if my guys have an off week,that's 2 losses. but it ended being more of who had the better teams rather than who was more lucky.

how does it work?

It's very easy.

You use the same rules as you would in a H2H league, but you set it up so you play 2 teams every week instead of just one.

You still set your line-up once, and you still form divisions within your league (if desired), you just alter the schedule.

I really don't think there are any other differences.

ok makes sense. I thought maybe you got in groups of 3 and played within your group for that week.

It's really worth a shot for next year if any of you are tired of missing out on the playoffs with a quality team. You really need a good team to excel in a Double Header league!

I think its a pretty cool idea. Certainly should smooth out some of the inequities that crop up in a short, 13 or 14 week regular season.

Where do you play? Is there a web fantasy football service that supports this format? I suppose you could do it in Yahoo by setting up a duplicate custom league in Yahoo (or anywhere else) after the draft with a different schedule and then maintain the records elsewhere.

That's a really cool idea... I wouldn't mind getting into one of those next year.

yeah those leagues are really cool...my dad is one like that. But they don't play double headers every week, just every 3 weeks or so. Unfortunately most teams in leagues like that end up with really good records, or really bad.
