Wow is that the most vanilla offense I think I've seen this season. Everything's hitches and outs and small stuff. Open it up a little, maybe they'd be ahead instead of down 7-6 if they threw down the field.

I don't think that has anything to do with it. Are you actually watching these games? He gets the ball and there are literally 3 guys right in his face every time because they can put 800 guys in the box since Joe Gibbs is too old school to stretch the field.

Even Spurrier's Skins offense wasn't this bad...

Every time they attempt a downfield pass, Ramsey overthrows the thing. This offense is hopeless. They might as well take a knee every play and hope the defense can score.

The only thing that's clear to me about this game is that if Joe Gibbs hadn't had so much success in the past, and this were his first coaching job, he'd probably be regarded as a worse coach then Dave Wannstedt or Jim Haslett.

I mean seriously, some of these decisions just boggle my mind. Going up against a team with two 1st year starters at CB and they take literally ZERO shots downfield the entire game. I mean, Ramsey is 20 of 32 for 154 yards. 154 yards on 20-32 passing is ridiculous.

Then, he runs Portis right up the guy everytime, then spells him with Betts and has Betts run two straight toss plays. Is it just me, or is it not common sense to run the toss plays with the quicker RB and the up the middle stuff with the bigger more powerful Betts?

And of course, we heard last year how so much of Spurrier's bad coaching was lack of discipline leading to outrageous amounts of penalties. Well, as usually, Washington has about 800 penalties, mostly false starts and delay of games and things of that nature.

Yeah the offense is a mess and maybe it's Gibbs' fault, but Portis is not the 5.5 YPC half back he was in Denver. Of course today was ugly, and he only had 2.2 YPC but he's not nearly as good as everybody thinks.

Over-rated real life RB's: Priest, Portis, Edge. These guys are making, and will make, a lot more than they should.
