11/28/04 11:24am ET - An official decision on the availability of Packers RB Ahman Green (rib cartilage)won't be made until just prior to kickoff tomorrow, but according to the Associated Press it doesn't appear that he will be ready to play. Green is currently listed as "doubtful" and there is concern that he may injure himself even more if he suits up. Najeh Davenport (hamstring) will be active and should get the start but look for Tony Fisher to get a lot of carries as well.

Seems to me if he could injure himself more by simply suiting up he'll certainly not play.

Really though, if you look at the standings you can see that the Packers don't necessarily need to win this game. If they win they're tied for 1st in the NFC North with Minnesota and, barring a complete collapse, are nearly guaranteed a wildcard spot in the playoffs. If they lose they are tied with St. Louis and Seattle at 6 - 5. St. Louis has the tiebreaker over Seattle, and Green Bay has the tiebreaker over Seattle. Not that they want to lose, but they can almost afford it.

Having said that, I can see logic both ways but mostly I just don't understand risking the rest of your season for one game. I say rest him and come back strong in week 13.

If Green's unable to go, it'll be Davenport and Davenport all the time. Him and Javon Walker should be set for great games given STL can't stop anyone.

Green is questionable...at best. I'd be surprised if he plays.

I hope they sit him just to make my decision of Davenport easier and so he can be full force next week.
