FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (Sports Network) - The Atlanta Falcons Monday signed Pro Bowl tight end Alge Crumpler to a six-year contract extension.
Crumpler currently leads the club in receiving with 43 catches for 709 yards and a career-high six touchdowns.
"Our object will always be to keep together our core players and clearly Alge is one of those players," said president and general manager Rich McKay. "Alge is one of the best tight ends in the NFL and he is the kind of player that exemplifies what we strive to be both on and off the field."
The 6-2 Crumpler was selected by the Falcons in the second round (35th pick overall) of the 2001 NFL Draft. He participated in the Pro Bowl following a 2003 campaign in which he started all 16 contests and caught 44 passes for 552 yards and three TDs.
