Anybody here any rumors who the next coach will be? I heard they asked Mariucci and he said No thanks.

I don't even think the Irish have any idea of who they will get. I believe they fired Willingham to get Meyer and his accepting the Florida job shocked the S*** out of them. I think they deserve it though for being so arrogant towards him and firing Ty after only three years (I am an ND fan and I still don't agree with the way they act sometimes). People they have been rumored to be interested in:

Urban Meyer (Went to Florida)
Steve Marriucci (Happy in Detroit)
John Gruden (with TB, doubt he'll leave)
Kirk Ferentz (Just signed long contract extension with Iowa)
Jeff Tedford (Cal coach might be skeptical after what happened to Willingham)
Dan Hawkins (Boise State coach practices Zen which won't be popular)
Bobby Petrino (Louisville head coach)

Yes. I read that this morning. The only problem is that they would probably want him to start recruiting before the Patriots' season is over. January is a huge recruiting month and if he stays with N.E., he will lose a lot of recruits.

Buffalo's offensive coordinator, Tom Clements is also rumored to be a candidate.

Jim Fassel says he has no interest in returning to college coaching.

All I know is if they hire Wannstedt, I will no longer be a Notre Dame fan so I don't even like to list him as a candidate.

I read in the Chicago Sun Times this morning that Tom Clements is supposed to meet with ND officials this week and if he has an impressive interview things should move along rather quickly.

Gerry Faust. Just kidding. Althoug speaking of old coaches, why not bring back Coach Beavis? I miss the good ole Bob Davie coaching and spewing at the officials.

Looks like Charlie Weis is their man...Hopefully he can stay with the Pats through the playoffs. This could hurt their chances to do recruiting, but I guess they finally got the guy they wanted (although Ty should have been allowed to stay :-t).

Yeah Ty did deserve at least one more year.

Being a Jets fan & ND fan I hope he leaves the Patriots ASAP!
