I I can't add a player by dropping a guy who played for me already. This is weird, so I clicked on the next week and tried adding that way, still, no dice. never had this problem, or maybe I just never thought I did.

You can't drop a player if he's already played today, unless he is on your bench. This has always been how Yahoo has done it.
