(from NFLFreaks.com)

Barlow practiced for the first time since sustaining a concussion Dec. 5, and afterward, he said he was "very disappointed" that coach Dennis Erickson said Maurice Hicks "earned the right" to make a second straight start after rushing for 139 yards in Sunday's 31-28 win at Arizona. "I think I deserve to be the starter, but like I've said since Day 1, I support coach Erickson and his decisions," Barlow said.

Yeah, it's tough to argue with your Herculean performances this season, Kevan.

No thanks to you Mr. Barlow. You've stunk up my team this season, but luckily I have Mr. Hicks who has earned the right to star over you on my fantasy squad. I hope you support my decisions because I have a better record (10-4) than Mr. Erickson (2-11).

I was getting sick of Barlow stinking up my team anyway. Luckly I have Hicks as well. Think he will do as good as he did last sunday against this week against the redskins D?

What's wrong with those comments? He expressed his desire to start, but wisely chose not to stir anything up. I like it...

And let's remember people, SF had no line last year, and in the offseason, they let their only good player go: Stone. So Barlow's stats might have a little to do with that. Hicks running down Arizona is no great feat to me. Well see how he does against the Deadskins.

I liked Barlow coming into this season until I saw his horrible effort in person vs. the piss poor Vikings defense in a pre-season game this year. I knew then not to draft him.

No problem with his comments, but this is the dude who couldn't beat out Garrison Hearst last year. I'm still laughing at all those who drafted him in the first two rounds in my leagues this year.
Barlow is an unfortunate footnote in this league.

I'm not putting all the blame on him. But unfortunately he's going to be buried on a team with frugal owners and horrible coaching staff. Maybe Erickson will alleviate one of those problems.

As for his griping...I completely understand it. What exactly has Hicks done to deserve garnishing the start? One good game? The timing is the issue to note. It's gotta suck to get injured, watch the back up run for 100+ and then lose your job the next week.

Tough season all around for the 9ers. It kinda makes me smile.

I agree with the last post.

I also want to add that the stat line in the game does not always reflect the effort of the player on his team. If Barlow shows up and works hard every day in practice, is a good teammate etc, but then gets screwed in games because his line doesnt perform and his team falls way behind and takes him out of the game...well..that certainly isnt his fault.

This happens many times each season, when a starter goes down and the backup performs well. there are so many factors other than the particular ability of the players, that we as fans shouldnt be so critical about each individual.

This all said, Barlow screwed me as well. Whatever. I made the playoffs, even with starting him most weeks. I still think he'll be successful somewhere in the NFL.
