...you wanted to the playoffs based on their actual on field performance and ability to compete in the playoffs NOW in spite of their actual record, who would they be?
NFC
Philly, Carolina, Tampa, Washington, Green Bay
Coin flips for #6 seed between between Detroit, Minnesota and Atlanta.
Round #1
#1 Philadelphia/#2 Carolina bye
#3 Tampa vs #6 Detroit/Minnesota/Atlanta
#4 Washington vs #5 Green Bay
Round #2
#1 Philadelphia vs #4 Washington
#2 Carolina vs #3 Tampa
NFC Championship
#1 Philadelphia vs #2 Carolina
I know some people will call Washington at #4 a homer pick, but if they win out, they get tie breakers over Tampa, Detroit and Minnesota anyway. Their defense would keep them in the game against the best teams and their offense is just below average enough to be almost enjoyable.
AFC
Pittsburgh, Indy, New England, Buffalo, Baltimore
Dogfight between New York and San Diego.
Round #1
#1 Pittsburgh/#2 Indianapolis bye
#3 New England vs #6 New York/San Diego
#4 Buffalo vs #5 Baltimore
Round #2
#1 Pittsburgh vs #4 Buffalo
#2 Indianapolis vs #3 New England
AFC Championship
#1 Pittsburgh vs #2 Indianapolis
I think if week 1 of the playoffs were these teams and followed this script the games would be a hell of a lot better than what we're actually gonna get.
I live in the DC viewing area and get a lot of Skins coverage.I knew signing Brunell was a bad move let alone the $ wasted on him.Even worse was that they waited so long to make the switch to Ramsey.Had he started from the git the Redskins are playoff bound.
Tampa, Washington, and Detroit over Seattle is disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
I wouldn't change anything. The playoffs reward how you do for the whole season, not how you're playing now. Well.. at least how well you've done relative to your conference/divison.

Why? Seattle doesnt deserve to get in, they are a huuuge dissapointment. That said, i definately would not put washington in thats silly, their D is worthy but their offensive woes are waaay too much. I would also definately put SD in simply because id say they earned it after their pre-season expectations. Atlanta deserves a spot after last nites performance too.

Just because they're a disappointment doesn't mean they aren't still a better team than most of the NFC. Detroit??? Washington??? Are you kidding me?
Right now, I honestly don't think Seattle could beat Tampa, Washington or Detroit. They just recently beat Minnesota, but I don't have Minny as a lock for my #6 seed. At best they'd make the coinflip phase for #6, but I'd rather just give it to Detroit or Atlanta. They have no offense or defense right now, just well known fantasy players which is not a formula for playoff success.

Well you live in the NFC. None of the teams I mentioned from seed #3 on down would make the playoffs in the AFC. I just tried to pick the least sucky teams.
