How Early is to early to pick a top tier TE?

If one of those guys are your favorite play then pic on after you pick your RB's, QB and 2 wr's. Otherwise I wait till i pick up my 3rd rb and 3 wr.

I took both my rb's, two wr's, and a defensive player, then I took Heap......6th round. I think that is just about right.

Just for fun I looked at the draft in my league last year and without fail the guys who jumped at the big TE's earlyest, were the worst team in the league. I was in a 16 team league and it just left too big a hole in the big 3 (QB<WR<RB) to fill. Just a thought. The bigger the league the more of a mistake they are to take early. Let someone else make the mistake.

Until someone makes an idiot of me in a league I'm in, I will never jump at a TE like Gonzo or Shockey in the 3rd or 4th round. Let your competitors take them early and pick up stud WR's like Eric Moulds, Koren Robinson, Amani Toomer or Donald Driver.

Then, in Rounds 7-9, I would eye Marcus Pollard, Alge Crumpler or Billy Miller -- in that order. Until TE's start getting into the Top 20 in overall receiver fantasy elites, I'll stick with making RB/WR/QB's my priority. When they're taking TE's, pick up the fantasy studs. Personally, I believe that most fantasy seasons are won in Rounds 3-5. Don't blow those opportunities on players that are one TD away from either becoming or falling out of the "position elite" within the TE tier.

I say just let the flow dictate. Also, if you really like the Chiefs or whatever and Gonzalez is your favorite player and you really want him then take him iwth your 3rd or 4th pick because i don't think he will last past that.

But somebody has to get them.
