Backup quarterback Vinny Testaverde needs just 442 passing yards to reach 40,000 for his career. Only eight QBs are in that club. "We have to find a way to orchestrate that. He needs 300, 400 yards," Herman Edwards told the Bergen Record on Wednesday. "I'm trying to figure out a way, when the season starts, to let him throw a pass or two or something. It's a dilemma I've thought about all summer. I don't know the answer yet." Vinny appreciates his coach's interest. "It'd be nice," Vinny said. "I know I'm close and I hope I get that opportunity. If I don't, that's the way it goes. But it makes me feel good that he's thinking about it."
Reaching 40 large would all but guarantee Vinny a spot in the Hall. It's absolutely amazing to us that this dude is close to 40,000 passing yards. Vinny had better hope the Jets blow teams out or get blown out because Herman is unlikely to yank Pennington from a tight game just to get a record ! for the backup.
Wouldnt it be something if they put him into a game they were getting thrashed in and he turned it around.
