Was I wrong about kickers ?

Postby xbird » Fri Aug 15, 2003 11:50 am

In our live online draft yesterday, a run on kickers started in
the 8th round, pickiing 4th, I ignored the run and got Stallworth
as my 3rd wr. 8 ks were picked in that round(10 teams). Then in
the 13th, a kicker was picked as a backup. I got C Rodgers,wr.
Finally, in the 14th round I got J Wilkins. 8 teams have backup
kickers(not me). Am I missing something, available fas include
Nedney,Hanson and Dawson. I figure I will grab a fa on Wilkins
bye week.

DEFINITELY don't read too much into it. Look at it this way, the run on kickers gave you more quality players to choose from. You should be happy that the run happened.

Kickers are a dime a dozen.

no you did the right thing, kickers are expendable and picking up those other players will help you

Whoever those idiots were taking kickers over Donte Stallworth helped you out ;-D The kicker rankings change every year. It's a total crapshoot. Yeah, there are certain guys that consistently are good, but every year a different group of guys come out and do well. Good job at not buying into the run.

Personally, Im targeting Wilkins. This was a guy who lived in the top 3 every yr before last yrs STL implosion. Now he falls completely off the radar? OK, I'll take him in the last rd, sure. Thanks. STL will have a better season offensively and so will Wilkins.

Thanks guys, I thought I was right. BTW, the 9th round started
a run on defenses, and I was able to get McNair as a backup to
Manning who I got in the 5th round after grabbing Tampa in the
4th round.

I always draft kickers and defense last. I got Tampa Bay of waivers last year... someone always steps up.
