Advantages of registering

Postby Arlo » Mon Sep 23, 2002 6:30 am

It's been mentioned recently that registering with this site contributes greatly to the sense of community of these forums. After all, it's nice to be able to recognize people whose posts always appear under the same user name.

In this vein, I just thought I'd mention that, while we of course value guests as highly as registered users, there are a number of features that for technical reasons are only available to those who register, ranging from the ability to edit your posts to choosing an avatar to reply notification. Also, signing up is of course free.

Anyway, back to football talk. How 'bout them Saints...

I registered for all those reasons. I wanted to stand out with a avatar and sig. I know I remember people that I comment on or comment to be about something. Later it makes it easier to reply, cause you already remember some things about the person already.

Been on here about a month and I've pretty much decided to just ignore questions posted by guests. Now that makes me sould like a jerk, but my reasons are simple. 1. If the person isn't registered it's unlikely he's put much time into reading and replying to other posts. Seems selfish to me to come in here, ask a question, get good advice and then bail until next time. 2. Guests don't have to be accountable for what they say. Some of these guys come in, make crazy almost flame statements and then disappear. Not cool. 3. Registration shows pride and what's up with the lurking as a guest stuff? Brand it or get.

Sorry for the vent. I'm done. Back to the boards.
Thank God for Football Season.

Where can someone (me) get signatures and avators from?

The only reason I have an avator is that I copied someone elses (lame).

I am a huge Redskin fan

Please advise. Thanks.

Just signed up last week, but I've been a valued observer over the past 6 months. Registered in the baseball forum as well. ;-D

The information provided on this website has been very beneficial to me towards my fantasy teams this year and wanted to say thanks to all those that contribute with their opinions and suggestions. This site is #1 in my book and I will be contributing my whole $0.02 from time to time all year long.

Great job guys! Keep up the good work! ;-D
