Is Peyton Manning the next Dan Marino?

Postby CoachAub » Sat Jan 08, 2005 12:09 pm

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Peyton Manning, especially the way he studies and prepares for games. His play-action, and faking skills are the best in the league. I myself have picked the Colts to win this week. However, you cannot ignore the fact that the Broncos could possibly pull an upset. If they do, does he become like Dan Marino? Does he set records and play at the Pro-Bowl level, yet never win the Super Bowl? I've picked Pittsburgh to beat the Colts in the AFC championship. The Steelers will dominate in time of possession, running the ball on the Colts. Freeney is quick, but undersized and they will run well vs. the Colts. The defense may give up a few quick scores to Manning and the passing game, but the defense will also be able to pressure him with blitzes he hasn't seen all season and he will struggle at times, which will mean the difference in the outcome of the game. What do you think? Will the Colts go to the SuperBowl, and if you agree with me that they don't make it, will Peyton Manning become the next Dan Marino?[/i]

He would have to go his entire career without winning a championship to be the next Dan Marino. And he'll have plenty of chances to get there every season he steps out on the field.

I predict the Colt's go all the way this year and the "curse of the Marino" will be lifted. ;-)

I don't think the Colts will win this year, but if Mannign stays with the Colts, he'll win at some point. Watch him get traded to SF now. :-b

No shock, I'm sure, but I expect the Colts to lose to the Pats, again, next week.

Manning will pick apart the Pats without Law. He was the difference last year and he's not playing this year. Colts Steelers in the AFC Champioship with the Colts coming out on top to face the Eagles in the SB.
So they weren't the best...and may have ended the worst. SO WHAT!

I think he will be better then Marino, he will actually win Super Bowls and he will possibly break Brett Favre's straight starts streak, which hurts me to say, but it's probably true.

I see the Colts winning the super bowl. As long as they play like this, no defense can stop them. Without Law and Poole, the Pats are dead in the water. I don't know if Pitts D can stop the Colts. No one can, and they dont have the passing game to compete.

The same thing was said last year. While the long range forcast doesn't currently call for snow, just playing outdoors, in the cold, on grass slows that team down.
