Pats can't keep settling for FGs

I don't get it. When are people going to realize that "playing nto to screw up" also has its own unique skill set and challenges?

What brady is asked to do IS NOT easy. He is frequently going to have to make more high pressure throws than some other qb's, in order to keep more drives alive -- simple fact. It doesn't seem to me that the pats eat up big chunks of yardage at a clip like some of the other qb's do.

Think of it this way, (this is a generalization) but peyton and the other guys more often than not can have three chances to get 10 yards with their passing. Game mangaers get one chance to make 5. essentially the other guys get a free down to get yards. If you run twice and fall short, you almost have to pass on third down. So there is more pressure on that throw.

Granted, games don't totally boil down like that, but seriosuly. Game managers have less to do, but they also have MUCH less leeway than some of the gamebreaker qb's.

Incidentally, I don't even think brady necessisarily qulaifies as a "game manager" anyway. I just think he is the "quarterback"

And discount the effect of rings on someone's legacy -- this argument has been spurned and gone on long enough.

But there is no denying that when the stakes are high, brady can handle the pressure -- which is a skill ina nd of itself.

Yea, the pats "team" beat the colts "team" -- but the colts "team" is built around peyton and his talents, so a failure on the team's part is also a failure on his part. The pats "team" is built around the concept that brady is going to execute the game plan to perfection and not make mistakes. Soa team success is also a success on his part.

Relative to what the team is asking of the both of them, brady upheld his end of the bargain, manning didn't
(he never seems to against the pats) and considering how much credit he gets for being this unstopable force, this cerebral wonder, "the offensive coordinator for the colts" -- he more than deserves to be slammed when he loses, otherwise, he should shun some of those labels. You don't get the accolades without the responsiblity.

You will notice that brady doesn;t seperate himself like this from the team, while peyton allows himself to be in the media...

No, Brady doesnt win, the Patriots win. It is the defense that carries that team, not Brady. Lets not step around it, we both know it is true. Football is a much more team oriented game and you cannot point to a QB as the sole reason why a team wins, especially one that is not statistically dominant like Brady is.

So are you saying that the Colts defense won all those games this year??? You don't make any sense there pal.

I think that it depends on the team. MAmnnign basically reigns the colts, while the Steelers or cough* Bears *cough use their defense as their center of wnning games.

Manning is the Colts, without Manning the Colts are average at best. But the Patriots aren't Brady, so to say, heck they could probably stick Trent Dilfer back there and still be close to as good as they are now.

seems to me that after the infusion of brady (when bledsoe went down) things took off for the franchise.

and if the "colts" ARE manning, then it was manning, who lost, no? if they live or die with manning at the helm, one would think that if they "died" we could say as much about manning.
