I read somewhere that he's determined not to retire.

I think if he stays with Carolina it would be more like a RBBC.

I'm thinking he may be relegated to something of a Staley/Bettis approach with him being the Bettis. Foster should get the bulk of the carries between the 10s and then Davis may come in to spell Foster and finish off short TDs.

Well put, I agree. Davis'll probably get somewhere around 12 or 13 carries a game, depends how much more they throw it with Steve Smith healthy. Foster will probably be the full time starter by the end of the season though.

Remember they do have Nick Goings as well do you think he will drop down to number 3 on the depth chart. Im curious on how Carolina handles this situation but even when Davis was healthy this year he wasnt to effective.

It's kind of hard to guage how well a player did with only 24 carries on the season - only nine of 'em coming in the first game when he wasn't injured.

...but it's definitely something I'm watching this off-season. Stephen Davis has been awesome in the past, although he's coming off an injury-filled season and isn't getting any younger. DeShaun Foster hasn't been healthy since... high school maybe? The d00d is always getting hurt. Nick Goings certainly put up some great numbers in his time as the starting RB...

Looks like a muddled mess right now, but hopefully it will clear up come draft time.

imo, Goings and Droughns are in parallel situations, in the respect that both were converted from fullback out of need and both will now be shifted back to fullback but will be counted on as a backup halfback and sometimes short-yardage or change-of-pace back. Still not sure about Davis/Foster. Foster has had a heck of a time ever being healthy but...

I hope DeShaun gets the starting gig. He is a very talented back and will have a very good season...that is if he gets the majority of the carries
