Any thoughts? I don't know whether to be happy or suspicious that the decision was made mostly because of the PR-value. Right now I'm leaning towards happy.

I think it's a fantastic hire. It'll be interesting to see how long we can keep him because if he is so inclined, there will soon be teams knocking down the door to make him a coordinator at the least and potentially a head coach. From what I've read, he was a big reason that the Ravens have been so good on defense the past few years. At the very least he has clout and will whip those young defensive pups into shape.

A couple of years ago he wanted to coach for the Bears and they wouldn't sign him on. That was a great relief to those of us north of the Illnois border. If he can only impart a tenth of what he brought to the game a defense will improve by leaps and bounds. This is not just a PR move this guy can bring it, even from the sideline.
