The age old question...

So, are tomatoes a fruit or vegetable? Well, tomatoes are generally served with dinner, not desert, making them a vegetable. But they have seeds, which would make it a fruit. Plus, aren't all fruits supposed to grow on trees? What are you guy's opinions? :-?

First off, ask any biologist or botanist. The definition of a fruit is a fleshy protection of the seeds. So, that would qualify tomatoes, bell peppers, hot peppers, etc. Also, it doesn't need to grow on trees. Limes grow on bushs, and watermelons grow on vines on the ground. Strawberrys and grapes also grow on vines on the ground.

Maybe by "scientific" judgement, its a fruit. But, in my book, it's still a vegetable. !+)

Super Mario Bros. 2 claims it to be a vegetable (since it's one of the things you try to kill King Wart with - onion, tomato, turnip, radish...probably some others). But, as far as I know, it's technically classified as a fruit.

I don't like eating normal big tomato slices because I think the seed/juice is nasty. I like the little round ones they put in salads, though! ;-D

ya they can be considered a fruit, but pretty much the average person just calls them a vegetable. Fruit or vegetable, they are nasty
