IMO, players should go into the HOF when they have, over an extended period of time, demonstrated an ability above and beyond their peers, known sometimes as 'gamebreakers'.
I'll bet the farm that NOBODY here has seen Benny Friedman or Fritz Pollard play at all, let alone see enough film of theirs to render a competent, informed decision of wether or not they belong in the Hall of Fame. That being said, I would 'guess' they should not go, based on the 'assumption' that if they didn't make it by now, they don't belong.
Here is my humble list, with quick explaination:
1.) Dan Marino O.K., I lied. No explaination needed here.
2.) Steve Young If he didn't win the SB, would he be on everyones list?
3.)L.C. Greenwood He was on the Steel Curtains Defensive line, for Gods sake!
4.)Art Monk oh, those hands...
5.)Richard Dent defensive terror tutored by defensive genius Ryan
6.)Michael Irvin yes, he pushed off of CB's, yes, he did enough coke to kill a small horse, but he was pure domination.
Bob Kuechenberg should go in soon also, as should Derrick Thomas.
