It's sad that he has to leave. It seems like he started his career just yesterday! It's too bad he was injured for part of the season, becasue it would be great if his final seaon was as memorable as his other seasons. :,-(

A great career. I lost a lot of respect for him after he made the "diamond in the trash" comment. I mean really, thats your team you are talking about, and its not like you were at the prime of your career when you said it.

He started his career before you were born, right?

Yeah, but it really seems that way. It doesn't seem that he's been playing for a long time, at least to me.

It's good to see a guy like Emmitt go out on a more positive note. After the kind of year he had in 2003, I was beginning to think he was going to fade away in the desert. 2004 was a very nice campaign for him and a good note to retire on. He was truly one of the greatest athletes I ever watched in any sport. ;-D

Hold your horses.

"Did you see my year last year? Do you think I'm ready to retire?'' Smith said in a report on the newspaper's Web site Tuesday.

OK, there's no comparing Proehl to Smith. But Proehl was a good football player and is a GREAT person off the field. I live in NC so I will definitely miss him.
