Why does the American public have a fascination with average looking sisters who are part of powerful families? (Bush, Hilton, etc.)

Seriously.. they're not that great looking at all, and there's tons of other celebrities to admire who at least have talent and weren't spoon-fed their fame.

I hate it when certain people are put over as being really attractive just because of their celebrity. Yeah, a lot of celebrities are good lookin', but I can easily pick out better looking girls on campus or at the beach. I just don't get how people can obsess over a celebrity and think they're the greatest lookin' when if it wasn't for the exposure, they'd just be another pretty face.
