Both are great, but I'm going for pears because I'd rather just cut up one of them and eat it than I would for a peach.

gotta go with pears...peach fuzz really irrates me...and makes me itch when it gets on my skin. a nice ripe pear is one of the greatest fruits.

pears ranked in this order:

Taylors Gold
Bosc
Bartlett
Comice
D'anjou

Pears, jump out to an early 4-0 start. I hope they continue, 'cause they are way better then peaches. Except there is a Peach Bowl, but it should be the Pear Bowl.

These fruits are very even for me, pears own peaches when it comes to eating them raw, but juicy canned peaches are delicious.

Both of these fruits should have gotten an easy first round slot - both of these fruits are borderline power-houses, y0!

chef hit it on the head. raw, pears are slightly better. but that's just one aspect of the fruit. beyond that, a pear can't do much other than just can it. peaches can be used to make tons of different things and, imo, taste better too.

Before I start (and this has nothing to do with fruit), I must say that I really hate IE...I try to open a new window in order to look something up, and it doesn't do it. Then I go to another site to search for the info, and then I try to go back to my reply in here. Everything I wrote is gone. My sister is going to die for taking the laptop computer back in her room when she felt sick. Because of that, I have to use the PC which for some reason can't handle running Firefox. Had I been using the laptop, I would have already had another existing browser tab open and not lost my post. End of rant. :-#

Anyhow, I voted for pears because in order to eat them you don't need to drown them in heavy, sugar filled, fattening syrup. They still go in the fruit cocktail, but I think I could eat a pear on its own. The peach fuzz scares me. :-)

Bosc is one of those annoying fruits that they throw in crossword puzzles. Every time I see a pattern like b*sc I say to myself, "I must have screwed up some other word!" Other annoying crossword fruits include the "ugli" and the "sloe." I had never heard of either of those things before I started doing puzzles, but now that I know them, it isn't so bad. ;-D
