How was it dirty? LJ Smith was still churning, getting closer to that first down marker. Furthermore, Gay simply knocked the ball out with his hand. It's not like he went helmet to helmet with him.

We all know how the refs have no conception of what forward progression being stopped is (as evidenced by Levens' goal-line TD against Atlanta) so I don't think you can fault Gay for making sure LJ didn't get the 1st.

i liked how mcnabb threw a pass into the middle of the field- to the line of scrimmage, when there is 30 seconds left and no timeouts. THROW THE BALL OUT OF BOUNDS! STOP THE CLOCK! what a concept.
