Perry was the bad move but tagging Rudi will give them the chance for a draft pick if they are still looking to move him. Remember, they have a history of tagging and keeping disgruntled players and there's no reason to believe it won't happen again. And Rudi won't sit out longer than the preseason. Problem for Cinci is there are so many RBs available for other teams thru FA, trade or the draft, so he'll be hard to move. They may have to lowball to get something, which is better than what they got for Dillon.

Now the wait to see if the Bengals will give him a long term contract...........I'm guessing they won't because of Perry. Now the question is: Will Rudi actually sit out 2005?

EDIT: This is good for all of us who have drafted people like Edge, LaMont Jordan, Travis Henry, etc.........reduces the quality RB market size

seems slightly dumb to me. he isn't worthy of the type of pay a franchise tag mandates -- and other teams aren't going to want to trade for a running back. In the real world, rb is becoming somewhat devalued anyway. Add in a fair amount of good free agent backs, others who would be cheaper to acquire via trade, and a good draft for backs -- it makes no sense.

They may have their reasons, but the bengals have certainly miscalculated in the past. They need to prove me wrong before I am going to label anything they do as "savvy"
