Cowart to be released or traded

Postby mikehunt » Wed Feb 16, 2005 5:06 pm

I honestly think that if the Vikes can this guy could be huge for us in the MLB. I hope that they try hard for him.

Sam Cowart has asked the Jets to trade or release him this offseason.
We expected him to be released, although New York could see if they could obtain a late-round draft pick for him first. Jonathan Vilma should hold the MLB position in New York into the next decade.

He'd be great, but how old is he? He's getting up there, isn't he? He would help the LB corps with his vetereness(?), and would help the young guys learn.

I know EJ hasn't looked stellar at times but he is still young and has improved. I would only think he'll get better. I would love to see Darius in purple. That would help the defense out alot. Cowart's age scares me too plus I'm guessing he would be like Biekert was smart player but slow...slow..slow.

Oh jeez, I was way off on the age thing. He's got at least 5 more years left in him. Let's bring him in!

Cowart would be nice, but I want to see Claiborne get resigned first!

At what price? He played 2 seasons with us and has missed several games in each year. If he can't stay healthy, how does that help our defense? I think we need to look in another direction or only sign him if he comes cheap.

We need the players that can be playmakers on that defense. Claiborne might get injured, but I would still have someone of his potential over Cowart.

Besides, Cowart also might slam Daunte in the head during practice... ;-)

He'll never live that down...

But yes, Cowart isn't that bad of an MLB... at least he's a solid contributer. He'd be a nice fit in MIN.
