As a Niners fan, im usually right on to any news....

However I have read a couple of posts here and an interview with mike nolan hinting that Julian wont be around next year???

where exactly is out pro bowl linebacker going??? from memory he inked a 5 year deal last year......??? and i thought he was meant to be recovering from his injury well??

anyone who can help, it would be appreciated.

No he didn't sign. The Postens wouldn't let him sign a long term deal and now the 49ers have him by the short and curlies coming off of that achilles injury. I think that they've got to resign him though. He's the heart of that defense and would be the best piece to build around there.

good point.

Im not even sure who are FAs on the niners this year... I think the other key guys to build around are all under contract (Kwamme Harris, Andre Carter, Ahmed Plummer)

Unless an older player is a FA... ala Ulbrich, or Bryant Young, or EJ, or Derek Smith)

I really don't see anyone else being worthy of a franchise tag outside of JP.

Peterson expects franchise tag
HE THANKS 49ERS FOR SHOW OF FAITH
Linebacker Julian Peterson says the 49ers told him that they will probably designate him again as a franchise player, a move he welcomed as a show of faith in his return from an Achilles' tendon injury.

Looks like he's staying put.

And a sign of good faith it is. Let's now hope that he wises up a touch and shows a sign of good faith in return by signing a contract more suited for his position unlike what he was trying to pull last season.
