Pool over Johnson

Postby King_Portis » Tue Feb 22, 2005 10:10 am

First mock draft I saw has the Vikes taking Brodney Pool, free safety from Oklahoma over Derrick Johnson who subsequently was taken by the Rams with the next pick.

Tough call for the Vikes I think if this scenerio would occur. I really don't see Johnson falling this far down in the draft though.

3 problems:

A) Derrick Johnson would NEVER fall that far
B) The Vikes would jump on him if he did
C) If for some reason they didn't, they would take a DT

not to mention, I doubt Pool is a first round pick anyways.

DJ is a top 7 pick. (I think top three)

I agree there is no way D. Johnson falls to the Vikes, I dont even think he will be there @ #7 from the Raiders, but I digress

With their second pick in the 1st round, I think they may select a CB, but I am hoping they sign a veteran DT along the lines of Jason Feguson or Pat WIlliams, maybe wishful thinking on my part, but I dont think they will get very good value drafting a DT at that spot. I have Travis Johnson being gone at that point, we could get Cody or Hawthorne, but are these guys good enough to be drafted there? I have them selecting Mike williams with the 7th overall and Carlos Rogers , CB, Auburn with the 18th pick
