Are they absoluteley forced to get two first round picks for him? Or could they trade him for like a player and a first rounder? Or like a first and third?
It's my understanding that if another team signs him as a free agent and the colts don't match, then the team has to give up two first rounders, but if the Colts trade him, they don't have to ask for two first rounders.

Is this correct?
I believe that is correct.
Yes, this is correct from my understanding as well...but I really do not believe the Colts will try and trade Edge. I guess it all depends on how much complaining Edge does as a result of the tag...I do not think you will find teams willing to give up a single first rounder, and 2 first rounders is far out of the question.

Just so people know, Dominic Rhodes is a UFA. I think there is a misconception that Rhodes is signed. For those that already knew this, just blow this off. But this may be news to some of you.
According Chris Mortenson last evening, Irsay loves Edge, apparently even more than Manning, and is making the signing of Edge his pet project. The key to the whole deal apparently is an extension of the CBA between the player's union and the league which could happen shortly. If this deal is struck, it should create a different, larger cap number and allow them to fit Edge in long term.
I like simple pleasures, like butter in my ass, lollipops in my mouth. That's just me.

Rhodes was signed to a 2 year extension yesterday.
I hope they sign him to long term deal. I can't take anymore hits... first Dante losses Moss, then Coles wants to leave the skins and go to Dallas. Now if Edge goes elsewhere, I fear that he will go through the same learning process that Portis is going though right now.
My point is, the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Really? Nice, do you have a link for that? Thanks.
