How did they get john malkovich and john cusack to do this movie? nic cage is brutal usually, i don't expect much from him, but this is really sub par for even him. don't spit leaving las vegas in my face, i am aware of how "good" that movie is. but back to how trash this movie is. i like ving rhames and steve buscemi, what were they thinking! ugh. this movie must have made a lot of money in order to pay all these guys.

I was wondering that too, I love war style movies but never heard too much about Jarhead.

I liked Jarhead, but it isn't spectacular. I would say that it is worth a rental, but don't get your hopes up too high.

Jarhead isn't your classic War Film like Apocalypse Now, Blackhawk Down or Platoon....

It is more about the War of the Soldiers within themselves, about how they deal with being away from their loved ones...finding out while in IRAQ their GF and wives are cheating on them, the endless nights and how much they absolutely hate being there.

Not much true War action in this movie, it's more about the soldiers mental state and how they are still human being just like any of this, even though they may have higher strengths and training...at heart they are no differnt.

This movie is basically covering them waiting for War rather then going through a war....this is all that i got out of it.
