I went to the theater and saw 300 this past weekend. It was one of the best movies I've seen in a theater in a long time. I even went with a couple of girls who thought it was a great film, too -- though not nearly to my extent. Terrific battle scenes, great storyline, and fantastic cinematography. Best movie I've seen in a theater since Little Miss Sunshine (which is also a solid movie).
Turistas 4/10... can you say boring? For all its attempts to scare or create tension, this wannabe hostel is devoid of any real thrills or scares. The best things about the movie were a few hot chicks in skimpy bikinis- but I can find that elsewhere. No redeemable qualties for this movie(at least it was short), I'd recommend skipping this one. BOO
Children of Men 9/10 Now this is more like it. A grim and bleak vision of the future I must say. The acting is top notch(Owen and Caine particularly impress) and the action scenes make you feel like you're there- very gritty the camera work is insane. Every scene is this film has tons going on and little things to notice, good stuff. I have a sneaky feeling I'll enjoy this movie even more the next time I see it

WERD!!
I'd even give it a 9.5/10. I love the super long shots. Did you watch the extras on how they shot that chase scene where they were in the car driving in reverse? Freaking amazing. A lot of the camera work made it seem like you were there following the characters around. Awesome movie.
300... 9/10 I'm a little late to the party but what great war movie, enough said. The visual style is awesome and the special effects are freakin' sweet... and Leonidas was a bad ass

Finally saw 300 last night, and it was everything I thought it would be. Special effects were definitely top notch, the storyline was even good. And there were some memorable lines, even if they were cheesy- "Spartans, what is your profession?" "oh AH!"
"Nobody in football should be called a genius. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein."
-Joe Theismann (pronounced theese-MAN, not rhyming with Heisman)
I'd give it a 7/10. It was an interesting set up, pretty trippy as it goes on, but I totally didn't have the ending figured out. I was a little disappointed, because some of it didn't make sense what with the ending, and I was expecting a surprise of greater magnitude. Still a good film, with good acting.
