Picks up right where Casino Royale left off with Bond seeking revenge for a murder... I don't think I've ever seen Bond so ruthless and unforgiving, which is a nice change of pace. Good action scenes and set pieces, fast cars and beautiful women--you get the MO. The weak spot was definately the plot: just a bit uninspired and too convoluted.
It had its moments, but overall not great. It would have been lower but the one scene at the end of the movie had everyone killing themselves laughing. I'd recommend waiting for the DVD though.

That sucks to hear. So what's up with Seth Rogan, then? He went from 3 back-to-back killer movies (40-year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Superbad) to just cranking out schlep? Pinapple Express was awful. I'm sure it would'a been hilarious if I was high, but I don't do that. I heard Zack and Miri make a porno was just ok. Now this recommendation about Observe and Report. That sucks, because his movies are the kind where I couldn't wait to see them, no matter what they were about.

I've gotta disagree with you on Pineapple Express. I wasn't high or drunk or in any sort of altered state and I thought it was really funny. Zack and Miri, like you said, was just okay. Too bad about Observe and Report though.
I liked it okay. Some awkward situations and strange dialog at times but it's Woody Allen....what do you expect?

Cruz did a good job but I'm not sure how she how she won an Oscar for best supporting actress, she wasn't even in the film till halfway through it and really wasn't in it all that much after that. To be fair I haven't seen the rest of the films with the other best supporting actress nominees, maybe she was the best of the bunch.

Well 40 year old virgin and knocked up were both directed by the same guy. Superbad was written by Rogan and his buddy I can't remember his name. This one just starred Rogan, as far as I know he didn't have anything to do with the writing. His next movie, Funny People, looks good from the trailer.
What a disjointed, long winded, overblown, over thought, awkward mess of a film. The war scenes are awful, the score is out of place, the dialog is terrible, the storyline is chaotic, and the acting is dreadful. The sad thing is that it is a very interesting story and could have been a great war movie, it's really too bad it didn't work out that way. The film is so bad it made the disturbing scenes that much more disturbing because it felt like they had no place in the film, like they were standing on their own just to shock and disturb people. Just an all around bad movie.
