I was waiting for someone to post something about this. Did you get to see it in 3-D? Just wondering if it lived up to the hype of "the future of cinema."
I did not see it in 3D, just in a regular theater. It was still awesome. I can't imagine how it must have been in IMAX.

Ya I had to catch it in regular theater as well and I still loved it. That last fight scene was epic. Definately worth seeing even if you can't get it in 3D.
GI Joe meh...at least it was better than Transfomers. Pros: Sienna Miller and Rachel Nichols with different color hair than normal and made extra busty, the Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow scenes. Cons: the rest of the movie, especially Cobra Commander 7/10

Avatar - Very good movie. Some of the plot and the ending were a bit recycled, but the special effects and fight scenes were incredible, and it actually had a quality plot. Worth seeing in theaters just to see the effects on the big screen. Didn't see it in 3D or IMAX, but I'm guessing that would be epic.
Kudos to Leber for the amazing sig and to Metroid for the userbar and making them both fit 2008 and 2009 Defunct Dynasty League Champion

Avatar - 9/10
I caught it in IMAX 3D. Absolutely incredible. I liked the fact that they didn't try to overuse the 3D technology. Things weren't constantly crammed in your face just because they could be. I was never put off by its use in this film (like I have been in most other 3D movies). It was most evident when it should have been, and at other times you had to really look to notice the difference it was making.
Like others have said, the plot is somewhat predictable. But it's good enough to effectively carry you through the movie to get to the next epic fight scene or special effect sequence.
Definitely worth seeing at least once in theaters.

Yeah, I watched this last night and have pretty much the same opinion. I just couldn't get into it at all. I think part of it was Michael Mann's directing style. Whatever camera he generally tends to use, at least to me, sometimes will break down that 4th wall and unless the acting is perfect, helps me realize these are just people acting in a room. I guess I mean there are some points where it just seems like a home movie or Blair Witch-esque documentary. Plus, Billy Crudup's accent and a mediocre performance from Bale kinda turned me off too.
Extract Mike Judge comedy with Jason Bateman as an owner of an extract company who falls for a con-artist Mila Kunis and wants to cheat on her but feels guilty so he tries to arrange a way to make her cheat first. hijinks ensue 7/10
500 Days of Summer that kid from 3rd Rock From The Sun and Zooey Deschanel in a "not a love story". the movie isnt told sequentially, instead it flips back and forth between different days in their relationship. hijinks ensue 8/10

Inglorious Basterds good film overall as far as acting and directing (Brad Pitt excluded) but just not as memorable as Quentins other films (Death Proof excluded) 8/10

Did hijinks ensue?
Went to see Sherlock Holmes last night. Not bad, not revolutionary either. Excellent cast that does a good job. Worth renting/getting on Netflix for sure, but you won't miss much if you don't see it in theaters.
