Four Christmases - i told my wife i expected a plot written by monkeys farting on typewriters...as usual i was right. one or two chuckleworthy moments, and lots of hijinks ensued, but still pretty much suck. seems like towards the end they just got sick of writing or maybe had budget issues or were worried Vince Vaughn would get so fat people would think they changed actors for the last act

wow I'd pay to see that. "A thousand monkeys farting on a thousand typewriters presents... 'A Prehensile Tail of Two Cities' "

Haven't seen this movie since it's not out yet but they've been rolling the trailer for a while now. The Wolfman linky

Sir Anthony Hop-skip-and-a-jumpkins, Benecio "of the bull" del Toro, that dude from the Matrix who played the agent and was also the elf king in lord of the rings.... I always want to say his name is Hugo Boss but that's not it.

I just hope it's actually scary. There's been so much psuedo-horror crap like the Underworld series, and Van Helsing, and the Detroit Lions, that I've forgotten what a good scare show is.

The trailer looks awesome, I dunno if it'll be scary but it looks like it could be really good. Is Benecio supposed to be Sir Anthony Hopkin Green Frog's son? If so that's a stretch. :-?

Not sure. Hopkins calls him 'the prodigal son' and then he calls him 'Father' so maybe Hopkins is a priest? :-? And he calls him son later on, but that's just a habit of old guys. I called the kid at the car wash son the other day cuz I couldn't hear him and he needed to lean down and speak up. 8-o

Did hijinks ensue? ;-)

Went to see Sherlock Holmes last night. Not bad, not revolutionary either. Excellent cast that does a good job. Worth renting/getting on Netflix for sure, but you won't miss much if you don't see it in theaters.

Pretty much sums up my impression of Sherlock Holmes. There were some genuinely funny parts, but the plot didn't really impress me.

Avatar 3D (no IMAX :,-( ) easily the most visually stunning movie i've ever seen and with the 3D made for one of the most exciting times i've had at the movies...sure the plot was meh, but there were plenty of hijinks to make up for it.

a few comments
1) was i the only one who thought Sigourney Weavers avatar looked hot in that skimpy Stanford shirt
2) do they "hook up" by hooking their ponytails together?

I'm on my way to see it this morining in IMAX 3-D. I've got tickets for the 9AM show (everything else is sold out!).

I went and saw the Squeekel of Alvin and the Chipmunks with out kids the other day - my kids and my sisters kids. Kids loved it. As an "adult," I thought it was pretty good too - for a kid's movie. It's no Shrek, but it ain't bad.

I got a ton of DVDs for Christmas because I realized that I'm kind of behind on the times as far as seeing good old movies, so I'm slowly going through them. This is what I've seen so far.

Gangs of New York: Good, not great. Definitely not as good as The Departed and I'm assuming not one of Scorsese's best films. All-star cast does a great job, but the story is long and hard to follow at many points.

O Brother Where Art Thou?: Awesome. I was expecting more obvious references to The Odyssey (maybe some of them went over my head), but the movie was still really well done. George Clooney is hysterical.

Fargo: Another excellent Coen brothers film. I'd have never pegged William H. Macy to play that type of character, but he did an incredible job, as did the entire cast.

Among others that I eventually need to get around to watching: Casino, Pulp Fiction, Platoon, and The Shawshank Redemption (I may have understated how far behind the times I am).
