My guess is that the way it ended is probably similar to the way it ended in the original, and it was kind of anti-climatic. I was hoping they would make it more dramatic, but it sounds as if it still kind of stuck. I was waiting for Cafe reviews before going to see it, as it was easily one of my favorite movies of all time, and I didn't want to see it butchered.
Well, I never saw the original. I know they probably followed the same script a little bit. I was just giving my review based on the movie itself. I wasn't comparing it to the original b/c I can't. So I reviewed it as if this was the only one.
Also, did the original focus its plot around a father and his relationship with his kids along with the whole aliens attack thing?
I saw War of the Wrolds today too. I liked it, like J said the acting was very good and the special effects were pretty cool as well. I hadn't seen the original, and I didn't even really get the ending at first. It definately did seem to end to quickly. Once my friend explained the ending to me I thought it was a cool way to end it, but I wished they had made it a little more clear.
I did see the origonal WotW but I have not seen the new one yet. The first one didn't have a child in it, or at least it didn't play a major part in it. As for the ending, if it does end the same way as the old one, then that is a good thing.
I saw The Core yesterday. Had been wating to see this one for some time, but as some of the older cafe members with kids can tell you, you don't always get to watch all the movies you want to watch. Anyway I thought it was OK. Maybe cause I had to keep telling the kids to "shutup" during the movie. One of my pet peaves happened in this movie. When the microwaves hit Earth, they only hit in a small confind area. Like someone drew a circle and that is where the waves hit. And as this circle moved that is ware the waves hit. This is a good Sci-Fi popcorn movie but nothing more. 6/10
Sporting events are family events. If you can't watch your language for 3 hours then stay home.

No, it was based around the central character, who may have been a doctor, or a scientist or something, can't exactly recall. I guess they wanted to make it more chick friendly to go see this flick, and what better way to do that than to inject some unnecessary romance and/or kids into a film.
Bravo showed Pulp Fiction on the tube yesterday. Needless to say, they completely butchered it so they could show it on the tele, but it's still amazing to watch.

I have that picture in my den. It truly is an awesome film, and it never seems to lose anything each time I see it. In fact I think it might get better each time I see it.
