Saw War of the Worlds last night - I heard a bunch of negative stuff about this movie and all I have to say is those people need to get real! This movie was a very entertaining Sci-Fi romp - with the only complaint being that the little blond girl was annoyingly realistic in the amount of screaming she did... 9/10
Also, watched Star Wars Episode IV on Friday night (continuing the saga after watching the first 3) and I have to say, the Obi Wan vs Darth Vader light-sabre duel was so incredibly bad I have no idea how it captivated me so well the first thousand times I watched the movie... Did they not have fight choreographers back then or what?!? Overall movie - 9/10 - light-sabre duel 1.4/10
You don't need your eyes in hell!!! heheheh - that line has lived on in infamy in my circle of friends for years now... Any time we see something (usually a female of indeterminate species - "is that human or ape?") truly disturbing my buddy has a tendency to shout that out - often where said female can hear him, thankfully they usually don't understand...

Do you liked it too Cuna?
No one can deny Walker's dreaminess. If I were still in high school, I'd have his pictures all over the inside of my locker. The fact that the Academy hasn't given Walker his much deserved Oscar is shocking. He's the next... um... Leo, or something. Leo!

Walker would pimp slap Leo around the room so bad it's not even funny!
Seriously though - he would.

Uh two words on your lightsaber question: Special effects.

I highly suggest the book version...way more detailed and pretty graphic too as far as the killing and stuff...gets pretty scientific at times, but that's Crichton for you.
Doesn't it suck to get beat at Fantasy Football...by a girl?
We just saw Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire the other day. The special effects were good, but I felt like they were just pushing out yet another sequel for the bucks before Harry and Ron are able to grow full beards.
None the less I'd give it 8.5/10 just for the entertainment value.
Don't give up the ship...........sell it!!

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire - the Dudette is a big HP fan, so we went. As a non-HP fan, this movie was watchable, almost as watchable as the Ass-Cabin one, and much much better than #1 and #2. Minus one bizarre dance scene with an alternative rock band which was very out of place, the film delivered with excitement, action and plot building. Can't wait to see the porno version, Harry Potter and the Muggle-f***er (credit to my friend Steve for that one).
Also saw Rent -- having seen it twice on Broadway (and thought it was fantastic), I had very low expectations for this film as it always makes me nervous when they try to take a stage productions, particularly a musical, and transfer it to film. It was actually better than I expected. They did a nice job of staying true to the story and characters, but also taking advantage of being able to change sets more easily. For those who've never seen/heard of Rent, the things that you should know going into it is that there will be lots of singing and plenty of liberal propaganda including issues dealing with homosexuality and AIDS. I love the story, but I know its not everyone's cup of tea.
