Bad News for Saints fans

It has been rumoring around that Deuce wants a new contract. Unfortunately Saints GM Loomis is so tight that he is not willing to give Deuce a top 5 RB contract. I say GM Loomis give Deuce a new contract this offseason rather than next because his contract will be up and it will cost more later. It has been reported that GM Loomis offered Deuce a top 15 RB contract but Deuce refused. I don't like how this is going.

But Deuce has said he would not mind playing for the Panthers since they resemble the Pats, and all he wants to do is win. But he said his main priority is to stay in New Orleans, and he said he is willing to carry the load of the team next year if the money comes in.

So I dont know how you want to take this, but whatever happens we better lock up Deuce.
There is no link, this is just radio talk and 'whispers'. I really hope this is nothing more than a whisper. :-o

Yeah, this has been going on for a while. But winning is not all of it...most of it is for money. He and Ben Dogra are pushing for a long, big money contract...which I think we should give him now, and not wait. As long as we don't re-sign Horn to a huge contract, we should have the money to do it. Deuce is our franchise...if we can get he and Howard locked up with big contracts we'll be set.

joshyboy72, " But winning is not all of it...most of it is for money".
I have to agree with you on this, with very few exceptions it's all about the $$$.

Good news for Deuce owners though, the two best words in fantasy sports, contract year.

Yea I know I'm beginning to love the words contract year, but I would rather have Deuce signed. I agree that Deuce is the Saints franchise.

I trade for McCallister right before the deadline in our league and I kept him, so I am loving this. I could easily see how Saints players could be upset with the situation. They always seem close to being a good team, but never realize their potential. I mean sometime they were winning big games and sometimes they were throwing the ball backwards twenty yards. Schizophrenic team, but I hope Duece goes OFF next year.

I don't buy the "contract year" bit. For every guy that seems to put out in a contract year there are guys who you think would and don't, e.g. Burress. I think guys play hard regardless if they are good players and some of these good years happen to be contract years.

I don't buy the contract year thing either, but I sure do hope this is Deuce's year.

I can't say I do either... But for Deuce in 2005, all the pieces of the puzzle look like they're coming together. If he's ever going to have a big year, this will be it.

This is the kind of thread that should be going in the team forums though...come on we need some more Saints fans in ours. Especially with Joester missing in action, or something.

Wow, what ever happened to Joester? I haven't seen him post in here since at least Octoberish, methinks.
