I was thinking that since Mason is gone, how much does Drew Bennett's value increase for next year? Can he handle the #1 wr spot or are the titans going to draft a WR in the first round?
We talked about this a little bit in the threads concerning Mason being released, but I'd say it's risky to take him now. It almost seems like the Titans are throwing it in for next year due to cap problems. If they don't get another comparable receiver to Mason, Bennett is going to draw the top coverage, and I don't know if he can handle it. Also keep in mind that Bennett's good games also corresponded to mostly horrible pass defenses (Oakland, KC to name two...and I think they played one or both twice during his run).

Too hard to say if Bennett will thrive at the #1 spot. We barely had half a season to evaluate him as a #2. Personally, I don't think he's going to get too much better unless Calico can be a solid #2 himself. There's no doubt, Bennett has the tools to be a top reciever, but he has big shoes to step into. As for whether they'll draft a wideout in the first round...I doubt they'll draft one in the first round since they have so many holes to fill. I wouldn't be at all suprised to see them draft a wideout in the 2nd or 3rd round, but I think they'll address another area with their 1st round pick.
I have him in my keeper league. We keep five players and I wasn't really thinking of keeping him until I heard Mason was let go. I guess the only way I would keep him is if one of my other 5 keepers (McGahee, K. Jones, J. Jones, Owens, A. Johnson) was to get hurt in the preseason. But would he be worth kepping over Witten if someone got hurt in the preseason?

Oh, they wont be spending that first rounder on anybody let alone a WR. They'll probably have to trade out of the 1st round like last year... welcome to cap hell.
Um, forget about bennett as a #1 type guy. Double coverage will take him out and single coverage with top corners. He's got talent but a lot of things came together to give him a great run last year. Not this year. Cap hell indeed.

And as maddog stated,Volek's presence made Bennett better.McNair seems as if he is returning, and he almost ignored Bennett completely.Maybe without Mason he won't have a choice.I love this because I know one guy in my league fell in love with Bennett and will take him so early it's laughable.
If Volek starts Bennett is #1 Hands down. We all know this.
If Mcnair is the QB, Who will be #1WR? Calico. Plain and simple. Bennett was not getting any love from Steve when they played together. Calico and Mcnair i think will have a better repoir.

He's going to catch his fair share of passes but I think overall, he may not find as much success as he had when Mason was in town. Simply put, Mason is/was a top WR in the game while there and took pressure off of Bennett. It'll be interesting to see how he adjusts to new schemes aimed at him and how coordinators choose to attack him.
