Cowboys | Bledsoe Contract Update
Thu, 24 Feb 2005 09:16:11 -0800

Updating a previous report, Jean-Jacques Taylor, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys signed QB Drew Bledsoe to a three-year deal worth $14 million including a $2 million signing bonus. The deal will guarantee Bledsoe $5 million over the first two years, including playoff incentives, and he will count $2.5 million against the salary cap next season.

thats alot of money... i guess that explains why he signed so quickly. this is parcell's doing...

definately not how i would have spent my cap room.

Not really surprised by the amount. Not like he was gonna play for the minimum. The Cowboys do still have a lot of room so time will tell if this was a bad move. I still think it could be okay. Not great but okay.

Yep but as is they still have about 17 mil so they'll figure it out. How much did Vinny cost? They couldn't go with just Henson and Romo.

it still costs 2.5 mil against the cap this year. Time will tell if this is a good signing. But if he's just asproductive as Vinny was... I'm going hunting at Valley Ranch.

I have to admit,I don't know alot about Dallas.Do they have a decent O-Line?If not,Bledsoe can be a horrible pick up for them.Besides,is he going to be any better than Vinny? At least Vinny could sort of get out of his own way at times.Parcells cracks me up.He must be going for the record for the oldest team in history, except JJ is going to skew that a bit.

2.5 mil in 2005
2.5 mil in 2006
9 mil in 2007

They'll just cut him after a year or two. I think it was a good move by the Cowboys.

the way I think about it is that Vinny was 40% of the money Drew is. Therefore, Bledsoe had better be 250% of the effectiveness as Vinny.

250%!! no way is any rb paid as much more as Bledsoe to Vinny 250% better than his lower paid counterpart. Bledsoe will be fine, He's Only 32. But he has played 10 years as a starter.[/i]
ADMIN edit: please note that the overall sig limit is 12k - thanks!
