Warner to be a Bear?

Postby Sixxgunn » Thu Mar 03, 2005 3:13 pm

The Chicago Sun Times reports Kurt Warner is the first to interview for the backup QB position. As a Bear fan, should I be concerned?Or does Kurt still have something left that can help the Bears take another step forward?I'm not certain I like Warner per se,but I like the attitude they are taking this year.I just wonder how all the old fellas they are bringing in will fit in with the youngest(?)squad in the NFL.

Warner wants to be a starter. Arizona likes the possibility of making him a starter. The Bear's have said whoever comes in will start as third string and have to compete to even pass Hutchinson on the depth chart.

Bottom line, don't plan on Kurt Warner landing in Chicago any time soon.

If he did though, I think it is a step forward if Grossman goes down. If Grossman stays healthy it would be a moot point. I think Grossman/Warner/Hutchinson is a 300% upgrade over the Grossman/Quinn/Krenzel combo we started with last year.

I expect Fiedler to end up a Bear though, not Warner.

I only have two problems with this. One is the fact that I don't really see Warner getting a starting gig anywhere, and two he and Lovie have ties from STL so I can't imagine Lovie would insult him by saying he has to fight off Krenzel and Hutch for the backup position.

I think this is just a stop on the Mrs Warner "will someone please hire my husband" tour. He planned to go to Arizona, Chicago, then finally bless Detroit with a tour stop.

I have a hard time thinking DaBears would hire him after experiencing Crystal Chandler. Possibly one of the few men on Earth more slow of foot than Mrs Warner's husband.
