Bills | Holcomb Agrees to Terms
Fri, 4 Mar 2005 16:44:21 -0800

Len Pasquarelli, of ESPN.com, reports the Buffalo Bills have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent QB Kelly Holcomb (Browns). The contract agreement is for a four-year, $6.6 million deal, including a $2 million signing bonus. Holcomb is expected to compete with QB J.P. Losman for the starting job.

a little over 1.5 million a year... thats pretty good for a backup add that to 2 million sign bonus.

looks like losman isnt the clear cut starter yet, there is some controvery for you... holcombe seriously isnt worthy to start anywhere though.

I like the move...

the Bills get a credible, quasi-reliable backup, and they don't spend a bunch of money doing so. Good move.

well, considering the bills have $652,000 in cap room they really have no room to sign a backup for that much money if losman really does have the starting job...

Not a bad signing...but they should still keep Losman pegged as the starter for 2005. Holcomb was a nice signing as a backup though, cheap and with some experience. But with the latent talent Losman could possess he deserves the starting job...at least until he blows it.

Kelly Holcomb is a quality back up but I cant see the Bills thinking about him competing for the starting job. Holcomb has no future in Buffalo other than behind Losman.

Very nice signing by the Bills. Holcomb is still a young player with a good arm. Not a terrible threat to Losman, but won't be a disaster should Losman falter.
