Saints | Smith Agrees to Terms - from http://www.KFFL.com
Mon, 7 Mar 2005 08:17:27 -0800

Jay Glazer, of FOX Sports, reports the New Orleans Saints have agreed to terms with free agent S Dwight Smith (Buccaneers) on a five-year deal believed to be worth $15 million, including a signing bonus in the $3.5 million range.

Nooooooooo!

OK, I know it was a super long shot for Dallas to get this guy, but we neeeeeed a safety.

Anyways, great pickup for NO. Should pan out nicely.

The guy just got in trouble for pulling a pellet gun on fans, not to mention past charges of assault and you want him on the Cowboys of all teams? You guys are just now tidying up your image, you don't need this fool.

While he will help the defense, I dont see a bring future for the saints until they get in a new HC and a new QB (althouh o-line upgrades and giving Deuce the ball are steps in the right direction)

This deal is perfect for us. Dwight Smith and Jay Bellamy are our future at safety...we don't need to worry about Thomas Davis anymore. Instead we can nail Channing Crowder or another other linebacker at 16. I like it.

Hate to tell you, but I sincerely hope Bellamy is the "future" of the Saints SS position. Not that he's bad... its just that he's 33 in July.

I meant Mel Mitchell, my mistake. Although I did think Bellamy was younger than that...thanks for pointing that out to me.
