49ers sign receiver David Boston

According to Pro Football Talk, the San Francisco 49ers have agreed to terms with wide receiver David Boston.

While details of the contract are unknown, Pro Football Talk states that it is a short term contract with a relatively low salary that is heavily based on incentives.

Boston was released by the Miami Dolphins after failing a physical. A ruptured knee tendon kept Boston out of action all of last year.

Boston was drafted by the Arizona Cardinals in 1999. His best year was in 2001 when he had 98 catches for 1,598 yards and 8 touchdowns. Boston has 4,619 career receiving yards.

Well, if the Juicer has Aaron Rodgers or Alex Smith (hell, even if Rattay lobs it deep), he might have a decent year if he cleans up his act. Don't see that happening though.

But SF now ties CLE and MIA in my opinion for most underrated WR corps.

Boston in San Fran? Looks like he's gone from one crappy team to another throughout his whole career. I can't imagine this hurting his fantasy value too much, especially since he hardly has any value anymore. But maybe the fresh start will do him some good. Of course, we said that about him last season. :-?

You're not kidding...he's right where he belongs on that issue.

But now he's on my team...I really don't like this headcase. Sure we needed someone to replace Wilson, and I suppose he's the best guy outside of Burress to get. He wanted another chance, and he'll get it.

I still don't like you, but Boston, please do what you did a few years ago with Arizona - and lay off the needle. :-o

FALSE ALARM ON BOSTON

A league source tells us that the 49ers have not signed -- and do not intend to sign -- free-agent receiver David Boston.

The story that Boston is heading to San Fran appears on 49ersnews.com. When the link was sent to us by e-mail this afternoon, we inadvertently deemed it to be a link to the team's official site.

It wasn't. And, officially, there will be no Boston in San Fran.

Various newspapers recently have reported that Boston is talking to and/or planning to meet with the 49ers. However, we've learned that there's simply no interest on the team's part at this time.
