Saints make a pair of moves
New Orleans, LA (Sports Network) - The New Orleans Saints were busy Thursday, as the club agreed to terms with tight end Shad Meier and re-signed defensive tackle Howard Green.

Meier, who agreed to a two-year deal, caught a career-high 25 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Tennessee Titans. Since the Titans drafted him in 2001, Meier has 42 catches for 334 yards and three touchdowns.

"Shad gives us flexibility in different offensive sets and another tight end extremely capable in the passing game and as a blocker for the running game," head coach Jim Haslett said in a release. "He can also help us on special teams. Tough, solid players like Shad make up the backbone of your roster."

Meanwhile, Green signed a one-year contract and will be entering his third NFL season

I think Shad will help us out on our o-line, which needs some work. Other than that neither of these two acqusitions are big deals. "Backbone of our roster," huh. Haslett's full of crap.

shad had a great game once when volek filled in for McNair in the middle of the season. I think he had 2 TDs. Other than that he isn't much of a Factor.
ADMIN edit: please note that the overall sig limit is 12k - thanks!

shad Meier

Boo Williams - TE - NO Mar 12 2005 3:12PM

The News
New Orleans is reportedly shopping tight end Boo Williams and safety Tebucky Jones.

Our Take
Jones may be easier to find a late-round pick for. Williams is a possible cut with Shad Meier recently signed.

now you know

Boy, it sure doesn't take long to fall from favor. Was it two years ago he was a stud/sleeper?
