Who has been on the list of Hall of Fame finalists the most times without being elected (yet). :-?

Al Davis has succeeded in totally POing the NFL so many times, I know there's a bunch of old '60s/'70s Raiders still not in the Hall that probably deserve to be.
Kenny Stabler and Ray Guy come to mind.
I'm going Ray Guy - who owned "hang time" for over a decade.

It's a Minnesota Viking, NOT Alan Page.
The other guy ... who's name I can NOT remember.
Part of the Purple People Eaters back in the '70s.
That GREAT Viking D at old Metropolitan Stadium when they played OUTdoors (like football was meant to be played).
With frozen snot on your 1970's full beard!

DANG. He was on the HOF ballot forever.

Nothing To Do With Nothing Department.

I was a HUGE Minnesota Vikings fan back in the late '60s-mid'70s.
Staubach's original "Hail Mary" I eventually got over.
Four (4!) Super Bowl losses - tuff. Very, VERY tuff. But I hung in there.
BUT. When the Vikes moved INdoors?
THAT was more than I could take.

IMO - Bud Grant remains one of the true NFL unsung heros.
What a great, great team. A dynasty, really. Now largely unrecognized because of all the SB losses.

So does Eller deserve to go to the Hall? Tough call, but I'd probably say yes...

And you're right - Grant often doesn't get enough credit. :-)
