Looks like the sweepstakes are over. Pretty bold move IMO giving the guy guaranteed money. It's most likely what ultimately swung his decision.

As if the defense wasn't good enough last year, now they have another disciplined player who was on a tough defense.

The Atlanta D was pretty dang good for fantasy players last year...hopefully they will get undervalued with the Baltimores, Pittsburghs, and Eagles of the world getting all the high picks. I could see myself picking them up later on and having a possible decent year-round option with them. :-?

That is a ton of money guaranteed by ATL, but if Hartwell can stay healthy, it will be more than worth it. This move puts them way up there as a D.

I think its a little odd though, Hartwell was saying that he wanted to play for the team that wanted him the most and that he would be the "man" in, not the team that offered the most money.

ATL obviously did want him the most b/c they offered an arm and a leg, but I still think Brooking may be the man there, unlike if he would have signed with SEA

wow somehow i missed this thread.
even with all the money the falcons dished out...it should pay off...hartwell is a monster and their D will benefit greatly from his presence.

Monster addition to their defense. They've made some solid moves since that horrendous 10 year deal with Vick.

all you nay-sayers... this is a great move by the falcons to solidify their defense. perhaps a replacement for the departed matt stewart, hartwell is a big, tough tackler who is fairly young.

good luck to him in the ATL... just glad he didnt end up in CLE.
