Hartwell Joins Falcons

As if the defense wasn't good enough last year, now they have another disciplined player who was on a tough defense.

The Atlanta D was pretty dang good for fantasy players last year...hopefully they will get undervalued with the Baltimores, Pittsburghs, and Eagles of the world getting all the high picks. I could see myself picking them up later on and having a possible decent year-round option with them.

So where would you place their D fantasy wise this year?I really don't know alot about this team,or Hartwell for that matter.Obviously it won't be Baltimore,but they always go too early anyway.Would they be a starting D?Or would you stick with someone stronger like NE,Philly or Pittsburgh.

well, Atlanta has lost a few starters on defense, but gained Hartwell... hmm...

I'd say that they are slightly better... but I'm uncomfertable at making them a starting D. Definitely a steal in the later rounds though...

they were the #9 ranked rush defense last year.

they had 32 takeaways, which was 11th in the league.

they have a return ace in rossum on special teams.

they were the #14 in total defense.

they would make a great backup defense and, sure, a steal in the later rounds BUT adding hartwell and grabbing another defensive player in the draft would make them much better...

they also had rookies in the secondary, they should improve by next year also. Their front 4 is awesome, rivaled only by Carolina IMO.

I agree. I think adding a solid, veteran corner to pair with Hall in Atl would have been a better move.

Now dont get me wrong, I wanted Hartwell in Seattle, but it is still a HUGE risk to give a complete guaranteed money contract. If he stays healthy, they will look like geniuses. If he spends time on the IR, that's a huge blow with no way out of it.

They did last year with Jason Webster. Don't forget, that secondary was injured ALOT last season. A little bit of health and watchout.

Indeed and if u go to ESPN.com you'll see that the whole contract is not guarenteed just the first 3 years like most long-term contracts. That was the only thing hte LV article was false about but they did scoop all the other news places by two hours plus.
