The NFL announced on Monday four key games of its 2005 Kickoff Weekend that begins with the debut of the Super Bowl XXXIX champion New England Patriots’ on Thursday night, September 8 and concludes on Monday night with a rematch of last year’s NFC Championship Game.

In a tradition that was instituted last year, the Super Bowl champion now hosts the NFL Thursday night season kickoff the next year. This year on ABC at 9:00 PM ET, the Patriots will take on the Oakland Raiders. The game will feature the Raiders’ debut of wide receiver RANDY MOSS, and will be Oakland’s first visit to New England since the teams’ memorable 2001 AFC Divisional Playoff “blizzard” game.

I can't wait! ;-D

P.S. Man, the raiders have the first national game next season. Last year they didn't even have a monday night game. I predict at least two monday nighters this season. Mostly beacause of the moss acquisition. ;-D

sounds like a great game. If Collins can show up, the Raiders might be a pretty powerful force next year

If LaMont Jordan can show that would be good for them too.

P.S. Don't bet on the raiders to go to the superbowl next year, I gaurantee its a sucker bet. Vegas gets you thinking, wow the raiders are lookin good with Moss Jordan etc. then they give you crappy odds on a still mediocre team. Just my 2 cents.

This matchup sounds great for a starter not as good as last years NE vs. Ind. But it should be exciting being the Raiders are a whole different team.

yea as a chargers fan, the raiders still scare me the least in the AFC west, but itll still be fun to see how Mossy does.

Man, I would've really liked an opening day game, Colts vs. Pats in the RCA Dome. Now that would've been interesting.

But this sounds pretty nice as well, it'll be a true test for Jordan and Moss in their first games as Raiders....I'm definitely looking forward to it.
