Hey, that's cool, I've been into celtic music for the last 6 or 7 years. Are you into the newer or the more traditional stuff?
Both.... I listen to the traditional stuff a lot when I'm looking to listen to something on the more mellow side, but I also listen to a lot of Celtic rock/punk stuff as well....
My top Celtic bands would probably be:
The Pogues / Shane McGowan Dropkick Murphy's The Dubliners Clancy Brothers
and a much less well known new school band called:
Thanks, I'll check them out. If you want to hear a band that mixes country and celtic check out the Fables, which is a Newfoundland band.
I enjoy the groups you mention but I tend more to the traditional. My favorite current group would be Dervish, I also listen to a lot of older stuff like Bothy Band, Silly Wizard, Altan, De Dannan, etc. There is a group from Chicago called Gan Bua I like a lot too.

But I really enjoy traditional Bluegrass. And, one of my favorite tapes to listen to is Johnny Cash's Live at Folsom Prison.
Have you checked out the Del McCoury Band? They are some mandolin playing bluegrass maniacs - great traditional bluegrass sounds. Link
I'm just a little Hawaiian and a homesick Island boy,
I want to go back to my fish and poi ...
First off I don't listen to country. My wife and son (poor kid) do. I have liked a few songs that I have heard, and there are a few artists that I kinda like. Toby Kieth and Shania Twain to name a few.
For my wife's b-day last year I bought us and a few of our friends tickets to Tim Mcgraw at the Gorge. Let me tell you that was the worst day in my life. Up a 4am. Hit the road at 6am. Arrive at our destination at 10am. It was at least 95 degrees that day in Eastern Washington. I got so burned from playing in the river that day. I was hot, sore, tired, & bored. Next Tim McGraw concert I will stay home.
Sporting events are family events. If you can't watch your language for 3 hours then stay home.
